Advance-Galatrek is offering half price rates on its Nationwide on-site battery testing service during July and August; the two-month concession reduces the cost of the service to only £75

Advance-Galatrek, the UK's leading supplier of Power Protection equipment in the telecoms, IT, industrial and commercial sectors, is offering half price rates on its Nationwide on-site battery testing service during July and August.

The two-month concession reduces the cost of the service to only £75, and is designed specifically to maximise reliability of older UPS and DC standby power systems.

The special offer is timed to coincide with traditional holiday periods, when essential plant maintenance is often carried out.

In many critical applications, the power protection hardware already installed will have few, if any, intelligent battery monitoring facilities.

Because actual working life can be affected by a number of factors, including local ambient temperature, the charging regime and actual usage in anger, the five or ten year design life of a battery is often not realised.

As such, the only indication that the UPS battery cannot support the intended application may be a catastrophic mains failure.

Advance-Galatrek's half price battery testing offer also caters for the great number of less sophisticated UPS devices that do not incorporate integral battery monitoring facilities.

Users of these systems are often unaware that their Power Protection devices are failing to operate as designed, a situation that could result in serious problems, should a mains failure arise.

Such an operational shortfall could easily cause critical systems to crash immediately, with potentially disastrous consequences.

According to Colin Griffiths, Service and Contracts Manager at Advance-Galatrek, the special offer leaves Service Managers with little excuse not to outsource dangerous testing procedures.

'As a string of batteries providing as little as 40 Volts DC can be lethal, we strongly recommend that large batteries should only be handled by trained personnel.

Because our special offer includes assessing cell condition, total battery capacity, remaining operational life and a visual damage inspection, we believe that this offers the most comprehensive and best value service available anywhere,' he said.
