An entrtaining quiz and discussion aims to answer the qustion why so few women take up engineering as a career.

Can you name a famous female engineer? Does it matter? Why do so few women take up engineering as a career? Can we do anything about it?.

Find out the answers and debate potential solutions at the Royal Academy of Engineering's entertaining quiz and discussion, "Engineering challenge", in the Attlee Suite, Portcullis House, Westminster, at 1900 BST on Tuesday 18th May 2004, preceded by a drinks reception from 1800.

Broadcaster Kate Bellingham will host the quiz and Claire Curtis-Thomas MP, the only female engineer in the House of Commons, will introduce the event.

Team 1 will comprise: Dr Julia King CBE FREng, Chief Executive of the Institute of Physics; Baroness Greenfield, Director of the Royal Institution; Professor Patrick Dowling FREng, Chairman of the Daphne Jackson Trust; and Marie-Noelle Barton, Director of the WISE campaign.

Team 2 combines the skills of: Surinder Sharma, Director, Diversity Europe, Ford Motor Company; Helen Stone OBE FREng, Chair of the Construction Industry Council Equal Opportunities Panel; Michael Sanderson, Chief Executive of SEMTA; and Dr Jan Peters, Manager of Equality and Diversity Programme, Royal Society.

Attendance is free, but those wishing to attend should apply by 13th May 2004.
