A new rubber-in-compression coupling and universal joint assembly, for power transmission applications where high misalignment is likely to occur, has been developed by Renold Hi-Tec Couplings.

Based on the industry proven rubber-in-compression design, the new UJ coupling is designed to transmit torque between a diesel engine and a driven interface where the two cannot be aligned accurately, or where there is distance between the two, or where one can move radially or axially in relation to the other.

The flexible coupling controls torsional vibration and provides damping for the drive train.

Typically suited for use on off-highway vehicles, agricultural machinery, marine propulsion, rail traction and pump sets, the new UJ coupling is intrinsically fail safe and suitable for torques up to 18,000Nm.

It is designed to accept the industry standard DIN, SAE and Mechanics flange designs and for engine flywheels from SAE10 to SAE24.
