Rotork Control and Safety has been awarded new orders for the extension of a major water distribution pipeline in Turkey.

Rotork Control and Safety has been awarded new orders for the extension of a major water distribution pipeline in Turkey Opened in 1997, the 150km pipeline supplies water from the Yuvacik dam to the city of Izmit and suburbs of Istanbul

For the original project Rotork Control and Safety supplied the telemetry network, utilising its Orbus DCS outstations.

The network currently comprises 53 outstations, linked to dual redundant SCADA operator workstations in the main control room at Izmit and a remote backup control room at Gebze by a custom designed dual redundant serial communications network.

In the first of several anticipated extensions to meet industrial and municipal expansion, new pipeline branches are being built by Thames Water at Hereka, Tavscancil, Guzeltepe, Spring Cross Connection, Dilovasi, Ford and Cengiz Topaol.

For these new extensions Rotork is now supplying six additional Orbus outstations, with an upgrade of the existing Cengiz Topaol outstation, all of which will link seamlessly into the existing control network.

This order follows one received last year for outstations at Arslanbey and Murdurnu.

Commenting on the new orders, Rotork Sales and Marketing Director, Dermot Coady says: "The Izmit project further enhances Rotork Control and Safety's reputation for effectively undertaking complex control and communications solutions.

"Presented with unusual and demanding applications, the Orbus range of DCS, ESD and telemetry solutions continue to achieve the reliability and flexibility levels required to tackle the technical and environmental demands placed upon it.".
