Factory programming option for low-cost stepper
Rotalink has extended its range of low-cost stepper motor drives with a new programmable model for unipolar, six-lead motors, capable of providing 24V at 1A.
Rotalink has extended its range of low-cost stepper motor drives with a new programmable model for unipolar, six-lead motors, capable of providing 24V at 1A with a choice of full-step, half-step or wave drive output.
The SM04 eliminates the need for control circuitry reducing design timescales and costs.
Measuring 100 x 80mm the programmable drive will appeal to designers and small to medium sized OEMs as a low cost alternative to designing and manufacturing their own control systems.
The SM04 is suited to a wide range of applications such as office automation and vending machinery as well as scientific and medical equipment.
The drive can be programmed to enable the motor to execute a predetermined sequence of operations that can be modified by external signals.
The SM04 is available in two configurations: in the standard version the SM04 will run the motor at a speed determined by an onboard potentiometer or from a customer provided external clock source.
Direction of rotation and stop/start can also be controlled via TTL level I/O.
These functions are accessed by a 10 way IDC header connector and triggered or inhibited from a supplied, external DIL switch.
Alternatively they may be controlled by PCs, PLCs or directly from the customer's control circuitry.
The second configuration allows the customer to specify a complete sequence of moves that are preprogrammed by Rotalink.
The move sequence is controlled via TTL level I/Os and would typically include a range of positional moves with varying speeds, acceleration/deceleration ramps, start/stop and motor direction.
Outputs can be programmed to signal that a particular position has been reached or sequence has completed.
The actual number and length of sequences are limited only by memory size.
ISO9001 registered Rotalink stock a large range of NEMA framed hybrid stepper motors to complement their drives.
They also supply a wide selection of other motor types, gearboxes and ancillary products to provide complete motion solutions for their growing base of valued customers.
