The Logix family comprises - ControlLogix for high performance PLC control and Motion, ProcessLogix for process control, FlexLogix and CompactLogix medium sized PLC controllers, SoftLogix5800 a 'soft' implementation of ControlLogix offering PLC and motion control and DriveLogix an intelligent drive control system for co-ordinated drives applications.
ControlLogix and ProcessLogix are already successfully being used in many different applications and industries.
The latest members to join the Logix family are FlexLogix and SoftLogix5800.
The Allen-Bradley FlexLogix distributed control system combines the Logix control engine with Allen-Bradley FLEX I/O, to create a controller and I/O system with integrated field termination.
FlexLogix is mounted in close proximity to the point of application, reducing expensive I/O wiring by enabling communication via a single network cable.
Allen-Bradley SoftLogix5800, is a powerful new soft controller that brings a higher level of performance, ease of use and integration capabilities to PC-based control applications.
SoftLogix5800 provides all the functions normally associated with a dedicated programmable controller and has the ability to perform sequential and motion control within a single system.

Additional Logix Platforms are being developed to extend the range of applications even further.
The RSLogix5000 programming environment offers an easy-to-use IEC 1131-3 compliant interface, symbolic programming with structures and arrays for increased productivity, and an instruction set that serves sequential, motion, process and drives applications.
This software development environment is common to ControlLogix, FlexLogix, SoftLogix, and CompactLogix.
As a DCS solution, the ProcessLogix system makes use of a server-based programming environment, yet ProcessLogix can be physically housed within the same chassis as ControlLogix, and both make use of a common set of I/O and communication modules.
When customers apply products based on Logix, they achieve genuine short and long term cost reductions.
Because all different applications within a site can now be controlled using a common platform, users can reduce spares inventories, re-use control programs and conduct fewer operator and maintenance training courses.
For example, a Pharmaceutical manufacturer can specify ProcessLogix for complex batch control, FlexLogix for material handling and ControlLogix for a high speed packaging line.
