Pressure on double width press users to improve efficiency and productivity has led to increasingly sophisticated controls being specified for these large, high output machines.
But now many of the advanced features developed for double width presses are migrating to single width machines, as their users see the benefits of more advanced controls.
The PressView control desk enables the user to manage the most important press control and print quality functions from a single screen and set of controls.
There are two basic options available - a PC with a LCD touch-sensitive screen and tracker ball for quality control and separate pushbuttons for press control, or a quality workstation with an Allen-Bradley PanelView display and an SLC 5/04 programmable controller.
The desk also features a bar graph display across the width of the page to indicate colour density, while ink control is via a robust membrane keypad that keeps out dust and liquids.
The PC version is able to store preset print quality data from previous print runs for reuse later, saving set up time.
The desk uses Rockwell Automation's PressView suite of software to control print quality, while press control is via Rockwell Automation's full-function man-machine interface software package RSView.
It offers a range of benefits over the traditional single width controls, including better ergonomics and appearance and improved control from its more advanced software.
Improved press control through greater use of preset inputs for ink, dampeners and registration can dramatically cut wastage at the start of a print run.
Better control software also produces a more consistent print quality than using manual control of the press.
By bringing all press controls back to a control desk or desks, they can be mounted remotely from the press in a quiet control room, giving the operator a better working environment. Request a free brochure from Rockwell Automation Anorad ...
