The Ultra5000 combines the controller and drive in a single unit, removing the need for communications between them and allowing extremely high processing power and speed.
Instead of the more usual 1000 instructions per second, speeds of up to 5MIPS (million instructions per second) are possible, because the preconfigured programming language is downloaded as executable code.
The Ultra5000 is ideal for cost-sensitive, advanced motion applications, such as high-speed labellers, rotary knives, flying shears and feed-to-length systems.
It integrates a high-speed digital signal processor, a flexible ANSI C programming package and onboard I/O and communication capabilities.
Ultraware software provides the configuration and programming tools, including a full colour, syntax C editor in an intuitive, object-based environment for motion, logic and project organisation.
There is an easy to use library function to create compact, versatile motion programmes and acquire axis information for use in the application logic.
Users can integrate pre-assembled motion functions into their application program or write custom algorithms to tailor the application to their individual needs.
Now with its DeviceNet communication interface, it is easy to seamlessly integrate with other network-enabled control systems, download recipes and provide status information on the application.
Ultra 5000 also has the ability to plug into an encoder, allowing it to follow the speed of a conveyor, for example, and the built-in digital rotating reference frame current regulator ensures optimal motor performance at all times.
