Both users and installers have been quick to appreciate the power and flexibility of the E3 Series, which packs a host of preventive maintenance and diagnostic tools into one compact unit.
Built-in connectivity via the open architecture DeviceNet protocol is offered as standard.
The latest 193-E3 Plus offers significant enhancements over standard E3 devices, including a new microprocessor which adds DeviceLogix capability to the 193-E3's already impressive feature list.

RSView32 Messenger can alert plant engineers and maintenance personnel, who may be located out of the immediate area, to system alarms so users can take appropriate action immediately.
Radical new approach to motion control?
While traditional motion control systems typically have their own proprietary text based programming languages, ControlLogix uses standard 'ladder logic' programming.
DeviceLogix allows programming of the 193-E3 Plus, thereby reducing network traffic.
In the event of a network failure, the E3 Plus can seamlessly revert to local control, allowing processes to continue uninterrupted or initiating a safe shutdown as required.
Device addressing can now be accomplished manually via a rotary DIP switch in the 193-E3 Plus.
193-E3 Plus also features Unconnected Message Manager (UCMM), which allows the 193-E3 Plus to maintain simultaneous conversations with other DeviceNet devices.
DeviceNet also allows users to access status information and data including device, trip and warning status, time to trip/time to reset (overload), online current monitoring and history of the past five trips.
The protection characteristics of the E3 range include thermal overload, phase loss, stall, jam, underload, thermistor and current imbalance.
In addition, all E3 Series products have built-in earth fault sensors.
The 193-E3 Plus can now be programmed with a second load current setting which enables better fault management in two speed applications.
Fault conditions are fully programmable, including pre-trip warnings which alert production personnel when a potential fault condition is detected.
This gives the operator time to address a situation before the motor goes offline, minimising downtime.
The 193-E3 Plus can now also be configured for remote trip via a hardwire connection.
Like the standard 193-E3, the compact dimensions of the new 193-E3 Plus make it ideal for refurbishment work since it is typically much smaller than the units it replaces.
Powerful monitoring and diagnostics from a unit up to half the size of comparable products means that the 193-E3 Plus offers a cost-effective upgrade path in existing applications as well as making it ideal for new intelligent motor control centres and decentralised solutions.
With the added flexibility of the DeviceLogix, UCMM and two-speed applications, the Allen-Bradley 193-E3 Plus sets the benchmark for intelligent protection of process critical motors.
