Manufacturers interested in improving consistency, productivity and quality in batch applications will welcome the latest version of RSLogix 5000 programming software.

Manufacturers interested in improving consistency, productivity and quality in batch applications - while also reducing development time and lowering total cost of ownership - will welcome the new PhaseManager feature included in the latest version of RSLogix 5000 programming software from Rockwell Automation PhaseManager embeds ISA S88-compliant code into all Logix family controllers, providing a standard framework for configuring and sequencing phase state logic directly in the controller or by using Rockwell Software's RSBizWare Batch

PhaseManager's use throughout the popular Allen-Bradley Logix controller family provides unprecedented scalability, lowering user's cost.

PhaseManager executes phases based on industry standard S88 and PackML data and control structures.

These predefined structures encapsulate complex Phase Logic Interface (PLI) code, which is typically time-consuming and prone to error when created from scratch.

Phases can be quickly sequenced with Rockwell Software's RSBizWare Batch, or directly in the Logix controller using Sequential Function Chart (SFC) routines, and viewed with a built-in Phase Monitor that helps plan corrective action before a costly shutdown, equipment damage or personal injury occurs.

"PhaseManager builds on our effort to efficiently integrate environments in the plant that today rely on disparate control platforms and programming methodologies", said Dave Bachman, Product Manager, Rockwell Automation.

"It helps deliver on our vision to provide the industry with a single scalable control architecture that extends across discrete, batch and process environments".

Rockwell Automation Integrated Architecture combines control, visualisation, open networking and software services to address a full range of automation disciplines, such as sequential, motion, batch, process, drive and safety control.

Users can now use a single control architecture for receiving, material handling, process control, batching, packaging and shipping applications.

Information from the architecture is readily available throughout the enterprise, where, when and in the format it's needed.

"With PhaseManager and other technologies and solutions that address the complexities of process applications, the Rockwell Automation multidisciplined control and information architecture brings manufacturers another step closer toward plant-wide integration", said Kevin Zaba, Business Manager for Rockwell Automation.

PhaseManager will be delivered with RSLogix 5000 Professional and Full editions and available as an option for other editions.
