Small servo drives maintain high precision

A Rockwell Automation product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 30, 2008

The modular design of the Kinetix servo drives helps minimise wiring time and related costs by greatly reducing the total number of connections.

Allen-Bradley Kinetix 2000 servo drives from Rockwell Automation are suitable for small packaging applications.

With power ranges of 300W to 3kW, the drive seamlessly integrates with Allen-Bradley Logix controllers, servomotors and actuators to bring flexibility to machine design and energy efficiency to manufacturing control systems.

"Historically, OEMs who wanted a high degree of precision and throughput from their servo drives were required to specify systems with higher power capabilities", said John Pritchard, Product Manager, Rockwell Automation.

"With the Kinetix 2000, they can get that precision and throughput in a form that's right for their application".

The Kinetix 2000 is scalable, allowing it to handle a wide range of applications ranging from 300W to 3kW.

Additionally, the ability of the drives to integrate with the rest of the control platform simplifies machine design, commissioning and operation.

The modular design of the Kinetix servo drives helps minimise wiring time and related costs by greatly reducing the total number of connections.

The cost-effectiveness of the Kinetix 2000 drives can be fully realised when they are teamed with the Allen-Bradley MP-series low-inertia servomotor and the 230V Allen-Bradley TL-series motor and the Rockwell linear stages along with the CompactLogix L43 and L45 controllers.

One simple power rail serves as a mounting and connecting system, making design and installation fast and easy while minimising wiring and maintenance costs.

A single, digital fibre-optic link provides seamless integration into the Allen-Bradley Logix controller platforms for Kinetix multiaxis integrated motion and eliminates up to 18 discrete wires per axis.
