Smartguard controller offers Ethernet/IP port

Rockwell Automation has announced the Allen-Bradley Smartguard 600 controller, a programmable safety controller designed for safety applications that require some complex logic.
The first release of the compact safety controller offers Devicenet connection supporting both standard and CIP Safety communication.
The newly released version now offers an Ethernet/IP port for standard data communication to an Ethernet/IP-based architecture.
It features 16 safety-rated inputs; eight safety rated outputs; four pulse test sources; and can be configured and programmed over Ethernet/IP or Devicenet networks; or through the built-in USB port.
Users can use Allen-Bradley Guard I/O modules to expand the number of safety devices the Smartguard 600 controller can control.
It can also perform safety interlocking between a Guardlogix controller or other Smartguard 600 controllers.
With your choice of Ethernet/IP or Devicenet communication, other devices such as standard PLCs and HMIs can read data out of the Smartguard 600 controller for system-level diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Use RSnetworx for Devicenet software to configure the network and program the controller.
From within RSnetworx for Devicenet software, users can launch an editor that lets them write function block programs for the Smartguard 600 controller.
No additional programming software is required.
With 10 safety application instructions, plus another dozen logic and timing instructions, users can write powerful but simple safety control programs.
