The designers of the Mars Explorer Rover vehicle needed bearings whose performance was literally, out of this world.

The designers of the Mars Explorer Rover vehicle needed bearings whose performance was literally, out of this world.

They had to survive sub-zero temperatures on Mars and withstand the tremendous shock and vibration loads of the probe's launch phase.

Customised Reali-Slim bearings have proved equal to the task.

These compact bearings combine low weight and space savings with the reliable, precise performance needed to position the Rover's camera accurately during pan and tilt functions.

The Reali-Slim standard product programme comprises seven open and five sealed series of bearings ranging in Imperial bore sizes from 1 to 40in and in metric, 20 to 360mm.

Where required, RA Rodriguez can also provide preloaded bearings, lubricants, separators and other features to meet the most demanding application requirements.
