Bearings suit harsh environments

A RA Rodriguez product story

EMS138 stainless steel improves life of enclosed guide wheels and tracks for aerospace, medical, semiconductor, processing and packaging applications.

The design of the Schatz Double V linear bearings from RA Rodriguez makes them suitable for use in harsh environments.

The rolling elements of these components are enclosed and therefore safeguarded from contamination, thus lengthening service life.

They comprise guide wheels and tracks for aerospace, medical, semiconductor, processing and packaging applications.

Most corrosion resistant bearings use 440C stainless steel because it provides better corrosion resistance than non-stainless bearing materials, but it is prone to wear.

The material composition of the HC bearings ensures both corrosion-resistance and long fatigue life.

The inner and outer rings of the HC guide wheels are EMS138 stainless steel as is the linear track, the V section of which is hardened to Rc53 minimum.

Ceramic balls are standard.

EMS138 has a fatigue life that is at least five times greater than 440C and shows more resistance to oxidation especially in salt spray tests lasting 160 hours.

Four wheel sizes are available in the standard range.

Guide wheels can be mounted vertically or horizontally to suit differing space and application requirements and used to support rotary motion.

Bushings and ancillary products are available for different mounting arrangements.
