At a time when security is paramount in the minds of airport management, the launch of Geo Robson's fully integrated baggage conveying and x-ray screening system provides a positive solution to one of the most critical aspects of air travel safety.

With the Integrated HBSS (hold baggage screening system) Robson is able to design, develop and install a total all-inclusive baggage screening and conveying system.

Clients no longer need take the time to deal with various equipment and system suppliers and have the assurance of a single supplier taking full project responsibility.

Robson is at the forefront of airport security and baggage handling systems, having worked alongside BAA over the past two decades on numerous baggage handling projects in Heathrow and other major UK airports, where security standards are among the highest in the world.

The HBSS combines the latest x-ray technology, handling expertise and software control systems, in line with the latest security practices and international standards.

Each system is individually designed by Robson's specialist Airport Projects Group, in close consultation with airport management and partners including leading manufacturers of x-ray equipment.

The HBSS can be installed as part of a new project or retrofitted into existing baggage handling systems.

Designed to provide optimum security management without delaying baggage flow, HBSS incorporates tracking control techniques to ensure that level 1 and 2 decisions by the x-ray machine are allocated to the correct bag.

Software tracks the bag movement along the conveyor system until level 3 diversion, with algorithms used to maintain secure control.

Bag movement is continuous throughout the process to ensure smooth, uninterrupted baggage flow.

Robson's conveyor systems provide a range of diversion techniques including pushers, ploughs and vertical diverters, to suit the system layout and building constraints.

All HBSS installations - both hardware and software - can be supported round the clock, every day of the year, by Robson's after-sales support teams, to ensure maximum performance and reliability.
