Pump boasts integral self-cleaning filter
The Rotorflush Filterpump is a revolutionary product: a submersible pump with an integral self-cleaning intake filter.
Self cleaning pump finds more applications
Submersible pump with self cleaning intake screen is being increasingly used to extract water from raw sewage and effluent to provide filtered and pressurised source of wash water for inlet screens.
Many existing submersible pumps are easily converted to this technology, and it can also be fitted to surface mounted pumps added the company.
It is said to overcome the problems associated with existing pumps working in contaminated fluids and will work where vortex, chopper and progressive cavity pumps will block.
It produces a filtered output that prevents nozzle and solenoid valve blockage, for instance, in upstream equipment.
For high pressure pumps a fine screen can be specified allowing multistage pumps to be used with solids laden fluids.
Coarse screens can be fitted when used with solids handling pumps to keep out very large debris.
Self cleaning filtration and pump are provided in one easily installed unit at much lower capital cost than existing filtration and pumping.
The Filterpump that Rotorflush is manufacturing is rated at 2kW, with an output of 120 litre/min and it is being sold for irrigation of farm effluent, recycling of water from sewage for washdown of inlet screens and pumping water contaminated with concrete dust.
The company says it is receiving enquiries for much larger Filterpumps for river water extraction, storm water pumping and filtration, washdown water for inlet screens.
The Filterpump was a finalist in the British Pump Manufacturers Association Technological Innovation of the year 2004 competition.
