Tim Thorburn takes just 31s to change over three different workholding systems and lands first prize in the Roemheld Stark Zero Point Time Trial at Autosport 2006.

Tim Thorburn of Craftsman Tools was the overall winner of the Roemheld Stark Zero Point Time Trial at Autosport 2006.

After taking just 31s to change over three different workholding systems, Thorburn walked away with the first prize of a Team Dynamics racing jacket.

Autosport is always a successful event for Roemheld and this year proved no exception.

The Roemheld stand was packed full of working models and applications including popular draws such as the Triumph Rocket engine casing, produced using Roemheld hydraulic clamping elements.

Bill Neal, Managing Director of Roemheld, said: "Being able to use components as part of fixtures is rapidly catching on with end users as they strive for more efficient methods of production within the lean manufacturing process".

"As a result, our Stark Zero Point Fixture with directly mounted Volvo cylinder head also generated a great deal of enquiries".

Many visitors also took the opportunity to experience at first hand how fast and efficiently the Matrix flexible clamping system could be set up for hydraulic clamping then broken down then set-up again with new components, time after time.

With market emphasis now on five-axis machining, also on display on the stand was the MC and SCS ranges of Hilma vices, which allow for shorter tool lengths while holding components rigid and stable.
