Roemheld publishes five-axis workholding guide

A Roemheld product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 27, 2008

Roemheld has released a catalogue that offers a 16-page guide to getting the most out of five-axis workholding.

The catalogue includes full descriptions of the Hilma machine vices that are most suitable for five-axis machining.

It details how the system has been designed to facilitate five-face machining, the single handling of a component, short spindle tooling, tool paths without collision, standard jaw designs and optimum component positioning on the table.

All of the vices and jaws listed in the catalogue are also available as Cad models.

The Stark Quintus quick-change system is also detailed in the catalogue as it provides the optimum interface for a machine tool when used in conjunction with the Hilma vice system.

Quintus incorporates a mechanical zero-point clamping device that enables the quick changeover of different workholding pieces.

This catalogue brings together all the latest five-axis innovations available from Roemheld.

A copy of the catalogue can be downloaded from the company's website.
