The R104 Impala microcontroller is ideal for a wide variety of embedded processing and control applications requiring low-power, high-performance microprocessor control, including manufacturing, automation control and data logging.
Based on the Cygnal 8051 system-on-chip processor, the Impala integrates quickly and cleanly with a customer's embedded system design.
"The R104 Impala is designed for embedded applications that require low power, high performance, and versatile I/O connectivity", said Tim Hinchey, R2 Controls President and CEO.
"Even with the Impala's reduced form factor, I/O control is through industry standard connectors that are easy to find and use".
"The Impala is another key customer solution in R2 Controls' expanding line of microcontrollers and associated peripheral products", Hinchey continued.
The R104 Impala includes a rich combination of buffered I/O interfaces including 40 digital I/O lines, eight 12bit high-speed analogue inputs, two 12bit analogue outputs, and four 16bit timer/counters.
The Impala also includes two RS232 and one RS485 serial ports, real-time clock, watchdog timer, and expansion port capability for up to eight SPI devices.
The I/O on the R104 Impala is accessed via industry standard headers.
The Impala operates between 9-30V DC power and typically consumes less than 60mA.
Current consumption is further reduced when the application uses the low-power and sleep mode features.
The Impala includes 64Kbyte program memory, 4Kbyte SRAM and up to 512Kbyte Flash memory for data storage requirements.
Up to 8Mbyte of additional Flash memory may be provided through the R203 Flash expansion board.
The R401 development kit is available to facilitate rapid end-user adaptation of the Impala microcontroller.
R2 Controls also provides telephone technical support to aid customers during project development and deployment.
The R104 Impala is $169 (one-off) and is available for immediate purchase.
