Gazelle gains Modbus communications
R2 Controls has added Modbus communications software enhancements to its existing line of C-programmable industrial grade microcontrollers.
"The R102 Bongo microcontroller's rugged design and flexible communications capabilities enable ease of adaptation into any industrial or field environment requiring high power relay output control", said Tim Hinchey, R2 Controls President and CEO.
"The complete integration of common industrial control and C-programmable capability as an integrated, low-cost solution allows process and system control engineers to meet today's reduced project budgets without eliminating features".
"The Bongo relay controller is another key customer solution in R2 Controls' established family of affordable, full-featured microcontroller solutions and associated peripheral products", Hinchey continued.
"In fact, development and availability of this new product were accelerated because of repeated customer requests for the specific features and capabilities designed into the Bongo microcontroller".
The Bongo incorporates the Cygnal C8051F230 microprocessor running at 22.1MHz.
The completed integrated board features eight high-speed optoisolated digital inputs, six protected inputs and eight form 1C SPDT relay outputs.
Also included on the standard product are two comparators and a serial port that can be configured for RS485 or RS232 operation.
The Bongo also features a JTAG programming port, a real-time clock, and a watchdog timer.
The Bongo microcontroller operates at a supply voltage of 9-30V DC and may be used in a stand-alone mode as a programmable relay controller or connected via the serial port to other industrial controllers.
The industrial I/O is accessed via 56 screw terminals and standard DB9 serial connectors The R401 development kit is available to facilitate rapid end-user adaptation of the Bongo microcontroller.
R2 Controls also provides telephone technical support to aid customers during project development and deployment.
The R102 Bongo microcontroller costs $139 (one-off), and is available for immediate delivery.
