UK and European valvemakers go for Rotork

Valve actuation market leader Rotork has been awarded substantial new orders for international projects in the oil, water and power generation industries.

Valve actuation market leader Rotork has been awarded substantial new orders for international projects in the oil, water and power generation industries.

The majority of the orders involve Rotork's IQ intelligent electric valve actuators for installation on fully automated plant systems.

Many of the actuators incorporate Exeeco gearboxes and Rotork is also supplying its Pakscan 2-wire digital control systems on a number of the installations.

All of the orders have been received from valvemakers in the UK and Europe.

Over 600 IQ actuators have been ordered by Keystone in Scotland and Adams in Germany for the giant Reliance Oil refinery tank farm at Jamnagar in India.

These orders follow contracts involving more than 2000 IQ actuators which were installed when the refinery was originally built in 1998.

Rotork IQ actuators are also specified for a large new coal fired power station project at Manjung in Malaysia.

The first 150 actuators have been ordered by Hopkinsons at Huddersfield for boiler plant being built by ABB Alstom Power in Knutsford.

Orders for a similar number of Rotork valve actuators are expected for the further stages of the power station's construction in the near future.

Closer to home, more than 100 actuators have been ordered for a major sewage treatment improvement project at Aberdeen.

Most of the actuators will operate Econosto butterfly valves under Rotork Pakscan supervision in new plant that is designed to improve the environmental performance of effluent treatment.

The Aberdeen project is the latest in a number of similar coastal schemes throughout the UK that have used Rotork valve actuators.

Commenting on these orders, Rotork Chief Executive Bill Whiteley said: "Our recent order intake has been assisted by a number of larger projects, the diversity of which underlines the versatility of our IQ intelligent electric valve actuator design.".
