Rotork adds Skilmatic to valve actuator range

A Rotork Controls product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 4, 2000

Rotork has bought the Skilmatic actuator business and assets from Skil Controls Ltd.

Valve actuation specialist Rotork has bought the Skilmatic actuator business and assets from Skil Controls Ltd.

Skilmatic actuators comprise a well established range of self contained electro-hydraulic units that are particularly suitable for modulating and isolating failsafe valve duties.

The actuators dovetail neatly onto Rotork's existing product range, enabling the advantages of electrical operation to be offered for an increased number of valve applications, such as control and emergency shutdown duties.

As a Rotork product, the Skilmatic design will be further developed and marketed internationally.

The acquisition is a further example of Rotork's aim of providing customers with a single source for all aspects of valve actuation and valve accessories.

Martin Perkins, Managing Director of Rotork Gears, summarised the purpose of the Skil acquisition: "Skil brings to Rotork and our international customers an innovative range of modulating and failsafe electric actuator products that offer us access to new market segments in the world-wide valve, damper and actuator industries.

Rotork provides Skil with the world's largest sales and service network dedicated entirely to valve actuation, and the opportunity for further product development.

We see a bright future for the product as an important part of our single source valve actuation service.".
