Rotork actuators secure important ship repair yard
Rotork intelligent electric valve actuators have been installed to update and secure the operation of machinery that controls the dewatering of dry docks.
Now in its second generation, the IQ continues to lead the industry with benchmark Rotork innovations including permanent environmental double-sealing, infra-red nonintrusive commissioning and communication, onboard data logger, rationalised system-on-chip electronics and comprehensive control and indication flexibility.
The IQT incorporates these features within a compact, dedicated quarter-turn mechanical package designed for the efficient, direct drive operation of valves requiring torques up to 2000Nm.
Advanced IQT motor technology operates from three-phase, single-phase or DC electrical supplies, with the motor always running in the correct direction, irrespective of supply type and connection.
In addition, the output speed can be nonintrusively adjusted over a 4:1 range without affecting the output torque.
The IQT's infra-red control interface is identical to the IQ multiturn actuator, using the same handheld setting tool to nonintrusively commission the actuator by means of user-friendly menus displayed on the actuator's help screens - with or without mains power connected.
Dedicated Rotork IQ-Insight PC software uses the same link to enable actuator interrogation, analysis and reprogramming, either in the field by direct connection to a laptop, or using a PDA running IQ Pocket-Insight to upload from the actuator and download later to a PC.
The actuator's integral data logger stores operational data in historical order, including valve torque profiles that can be used for predictive valve maintenance.
All IQT actuators incorporate a double-sealed, permanently watertight enclosure conforming to IP68 (NEMA 4, 4X and 6).
Hazardous area actuators are fully approved to the latest ATEX standards.
Valve drive couplings comply with either ISO5211 or MSS SP-101.
Connectivity options include Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus and DeviceNet open systems, as well as Rotork's own dedicated Pakscan system and In-Vision PC based Scada software.
