This year's Addcon World conference is to be held in Amsterdam on the 28th and 29th September 2004.

Additives are used in a variety of different applications and are a major ingredient of most modern plastic products therefore its is important to understand how the different additives used interact with each other.

This conference focuses on the technical advances and problems the plastics additives industry has to deal with.

The additives business is becoming increasingly global, and so products need to be compatible with ever faster output rates, tighter cost limits, stricter legislation, and end-of-life recycling.

There is increasing competition from Asia and a steady rise in European regulatory directives.

Hence, improved additives are needed to produce products economically that comply with regulations but still satisfy the high demands of the consumer.

The commercial success of plastics products depends crucially on the choice of constituents.

Additives such as flame retardants, plasticisers or antistatic agents enable plastics products to comply with regulatory requirements, compete technically with the competition, and last a long time.

Additives can change entire markets; clarifiers enable polypropylene to compete with other resins in optically clear containers, and compatibilisers have ushered in a whole new world of blends and alloys.

Papers to be presented at the Addcon World 2004 conference include talks on food contact and medical regulations, wood plastic composites, biocides, flame retardants, heat stabilisers, process aids, processing equipment and methods and impact modifiers.

Solvay will discuss high performance additives and K-Tron will look at compounding processes.

Papers will also be presented on microencapsules and conductive additives.

Speakers at the conference include representatives from Rapra, Great Lakes Chemicals, Clariant, Eurobrom and Rieter Automatik.

Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available with this popular conference.

Companies can sponsor individual events such as dinners and receptions or individual items such as pens and notepads.

A wallet service is also available where companies can arrange to have a brochure enclosed in every delegate conference bag at a cost of Eur 750.

There will also be a tabletop exhibition organised to run alongside the conference.

Places at Addcon World 2004 retail at Eur 850 before 27th August and Eur 1050 thereafter (both plus VAT).

Discounts are available for companies who register three or more delegates.

Those who have attended a previous Addcon conference may qualify for the Addcon Loyalty Scheme where they can receive a further 20% off the registration fee.
