The Rapra High Performance Fillers Conference in Cologne in March 2005, encompassed many aspects of markets, materials and property considerations.

The Rapra High Performance Fillers Conference in Cologne in March 2005, encompassed many aspects of markets, materials and property considerations It was a great success with delegates from 17 different countries

It allowed a broad range of delegates to get up to speed with the technology in this rapidly changing area.

The atmosphere was friendly, there was very good interaction and useful contacts were made through the extensive networking opportunities.

There was a particularly good turn out of users.

Part of the reason for the success of the conference was the diversity of the topics covered and the combination of both technical papers and subject review papers.

The programme was a good blend of subjects and all angles were covered with speakers from producers, users and academics.

The event started with a review of markets and economics and covered topics such as the newly emerging nanofillers, flame retardant fillers and special lightweight fillers.

Useful sessions were held on coupling agents and surface modifiers.

The conference ended with papers addressing new developments in silicates.

Rapra is planning to develop this as an annual event, with the next conference to be held in March 2006 in Cologne.
