MERL and Rapra Technology are recruiting speakers for the Fifth 2-day International Conference on Oilfield Engineering with Polymers, to be held in London, on 29th and 30th March 2006.

The oil industry seeks to operate in increasingly remote and extreme environments whilst needing to maintain safety and reliability.

For many applications involving polymeric components success is achieved with a combination of research and development, design, testing and feedback from operational experience, to inform future development.

Industry trends include: an increasing number of subsea completions for deep and ultra deep water, increasing temperatures and pressures downhole, a growing market for liquid natural gas (LNG), new drilling fluids, reinjection of sour gas etc.

These trends bring greater demands on the materials and components that are employed and a greater need for understanding material behaviour and limits.

The conference aims to bring together operators, contractors, equipment and component suppliers, materials suppliers and research organisations involved in the use of polymers in upstream oilfield.
