Rapra Technology is challenging plastics manufacturers to come to Interplas 05 with existing or new products that need producing more effectively and at less cost.

Rapra Technology is challenging plastics manufacturers to come to Interplas 05, the UK's leading plastics exhibition, with existing or new products that need producing more effectively and at less cost Rapra has pledged at Interplas 05 to offer free product and processing redesign analysis to the top three case studies it receives during the show's three days duration at the NEC Birmingham, from 4th to 6th October 2005

To ensure that their entry will be received companies are advised to prebook visits of 15 minutes duration with Rapra for this purpose; bringing, where appropriate, the products in question with supporting documentation.

Richard Walton, Rapra Marketing Manager says: "We want to show the industry the quantitative and qualitative improvements that scientific method and analysis can bring to nearly any item in plastic production today".

"Our design and testing services have been achieving some spectacular improvements in performance for clients recently and we can think of no better forum than Interplas 05 to show these skills to the industry at large".

Rapra will judge the top three improvements across a number of factors, including: making products faster - ie with decreased cycle time but without any increase in residual stress levels; making products lighter without loss of function, using less material; and making products cheaper, using less energy and overhead.

Rapra design and testing services have been enjoying double-digit growth in turnover this year.

Substantial investment in the early part of 2005 in Catia CAD and Cetol tolerance analysis software have added to the existing client services, combining 3D moulding simulation modelling with the actual working behaviour of plastic moulding assemblies.

"Our sales performance and head count has been rising for the past nine months, based on the popularity of some redefined key offerings", says Walton.

"We will therefore be making a strong showing at Interplas 05 highlighting these product design and testing services".

"In addition, we shall also be featuring our newly launched Rapra Pharmaceutical and Rapra Environmental brands", adds Walton.

"New business development managers have been brought into the Rapra organisation to drive forward these expansions, effectively growing new business units within the umbrella Rapra structure".

"Our aim is to build client-focused teams, equipped with the latest tools, to offer the highest quality service to new product developers in general, to offer specialised services to companies in the pharma sector, and to assist companies seeking to reduce energy costs or minimise waste", he says.

Rapra will also use Interplas 05 to demonstrate the benefits of collaborative research projects with the Shawbury-based organisation.

"Based on an increasingly successful performance in Europe", says Walton, "this pan-European collaborative research work is currently our fastest growing activity".

"We therefore wish to encourage other researchers, companies and institutions at Interplas to talk with us about their special interests since we are confident in our abilities to attract funding and to launch and manage research activity".

At Interplas 05 Rapra will be showcasing its traditional expertise and experience as an independent polymer analysis and test house, as a provider of contracted-out testing and analysis work, and as a provider of services and information for a whole range of polymer user industry interests in areas such as automotive, medical and healthcare and packaging.
