Conference calls for papers on Reach

A Smithers Rapra product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 6, 2006

Rapra Technology is organising its first international conference on Reach in Brussels on 17th and 18th April 2007, and is currently recruiting speakers.

Reach is coming and it's here to stay.

Hailed at the most intrusive piece of legislation to hit the chemicals supply chain, its impact will be widespread and for the unprepared, potentially catastrophic.

Although the chemicals industry supports the goals of Reach, its implementation will be all-consuming and, in some cases, prohibitively costly.

Whether you're an importer, distributor, formulator or downstream user, you need to know what you're up against - as they say "better the devil you know".

With this is mind, Rapra Technology is organising its first international conference on Reach in Brussels on 17th and 18th April 2007, and is currently recruiting speakers.

Papers are invited on: overviews on what the legislation covers and what it means in practice for industry how Reach will operate; practical papers on testing requirements and feasibility; the impact of Reach on polymers and products using them; the effect of Reach on the supply of chemicals in the EU; the cost of implementing Reach in the industry; data sharing and data sources; market surveys of the effect of the legislation on material and chemical supplies; country-specific issues relating to the legislation; case studies highlighting specific approaches being taken to prepare for Reach; materials substitution issues and opportunities; green approaches to chemical use in the EU; the likely impact on the European chemical industry; and management and administrative systems for dealing with Reach.

The deadline for offering a paper is 27th October 2006.
