Smithers Rapra has released the conference agenda for its second international Polymers in Defence and Aerospace Applications conference taking place in Hamburg on 10-11 February 2010.

The conference will look at the increasing role that polymers play in large- and small-component replacement in the defence and aerospace industries.

There will be session topics on novel materials, processes, electronic applications, composites, nano-composites and coatings.

At the start of the conference, BAE Systems will look at a variety of materials and processes that are being investigated through a UK-wide partnership.

Solvay Solexis will also present a paper on the first day of the conference assessing the use of fluoropolymers in aerospace and defence applications.

Three sessions will be dedicated to composites and nano-composites.

The first day concludes with four papers on composites including an insight into their use in lighter armoured vehicles from Qinetiq.

The second day will focus on carbon nano-fibre-based materials, with presentations from industry and academia, as well as four papers on inorganic nano-composites.

The final session of the two days will examine the use of polymers in coatings in the aerospace and defence industry, with papers from Indestructible Specialist Coatings and Nusil Technology.
