Design engineers will find Rubber Industries' free rubber compound selection guide in CD format a useful tool in their part designs.

Design engineers will find Rubber Industries' free rubber compound selection guide in CD format a useful tool in their part designs.

Of all the component part materials, rubber is considered by most experts to be the least understood.

Unlike metals and plastics, rubber does not have universal "cut and dried" design criteria, which makes the correct rubber compound selection difficult.

To help with the selection process, the new Rubber Industries CD presents a brief description of the most popular base polymers along with durometer range, useful temperature range, useful properties, typical applications, and cost.

An important section included in the selection chart is for those applications the polymer is not recommended.

Part designers dealing with specific performance problems, such as hardness, fluid resistance, temperature resistance, abrasion resistance, shrinkage, elongation, modulus and cost, can focus on a particular characteristic using this CD selection tool.

In addition to base polymers, there is a listing of Rubber Industries' compounds generally recommended for various fluid applications.

Rubber Industries provides complete rubber prototype through large volume production using injection, transfer and compression moulding.

It has complete in-house custom compound formulating and mixing as well as mould building capabilities.

The company also provides engineering assistance for product design and development.
