Protofast service quickly moulds prototypes

A Rubber Industries product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 6, 2009

The Protofast parts service run by Rubber Industries can mould production-quality parts from prints in just 10 working days.

Available in custom rubber and LSR (liquid silicone rubber), this Protofast service uses production-grade tooling and dedicated moulding equipment.

The advantage over conventional prototype processes is that the Protofast process allows for faster and more accurate evaluations of the component design.

The Protofast service speeds up the start of production runs.

Using the Protofast service, designers can evaluate and test various rubber formulations simultaneously.

These include thermoset materials, silicones, fluouroelastomers, fluorosilicones, liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and TPR.

Complete in-house elastomer testing facilities and formulation monitoring systems are available to ensure materials meet customer quality-requirements.

These include specific industry performance requirements, including contamination, UV and chemical resistance, plus other features such as insulation, bonding and sealing.

Once the appropriate material is selected and formulated, Rubber Industries will build a single-cavity mould and produce 12 sample parts in just 10 working days.

After a prototype part is successfully designed and tested, Rubber Industries has rubber and silicone production facilities to perform the complete manufacturing process, including high-volume moulding, assembly and packaging in any quantity required.

Using the latest injection, transfer and compression moulding equipment, Rubber Industries can provide small, medium and large volume production.

The company also provides complete in-house milling and cryogenic de-flashing capabilities combined with special packaging and assembly services.
