Thermal imager offers detailed on site analysis

A Roxspur Measurement and Control product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 14, 2006

Roxspur Measurement and Control introduces the innovative IRI 4010 multi purpose thermal imager, ideal for the thermographer and maintenance engineer alike

Combining flexibility with ease of use and minimal cost, this portable unit offers an industry leading 3.5in high quality colour LCD display, allowing detailed on site analysis, and hot spot identification using the built-in trigger operated laser pointer: plus images can be stored for later detailed review.

Covering the temperature range of -10 to +250C, the IRI 4010 back-lit display presents an image covering a 20 x 15 degree field of view, plus offers a built in x2 zoom feature, for more detailed views on the 160 x 120 pixel display.

With manually adjusted focus as close as 30cms, and monitoring temperature differences of as little as 0.15C, the IRI 4010 allows detailed inspection and fault finding in electrical equipment or intricate machinery, as well as offering wider plant and process views, showing temperatures or temperature differences.

The IRI 4010 provides recorded data that can be used in report generation or record printing, with up to 1000 images that can be stored in the unit, date and time stamped, and downloaded to a PC using a USB interface or SD card reader.

The high power, field replaceable rechargeable lithium ion battery allows continuous operation for up to four hours, and yet the complete unit only weighs 750g.

The IRI 4010 is fully radiometric; temperature measurements can be made over the entire image, and these are based on the total infra-red spectrum from 8 to 14 microns, measured using an uncooled micro bolometer.

The Emissivity correction factor is user selectable in steps of 0.01 with reflected ambient temperature compensation, allowing a temperature measurement accuracy of + or -2C or 2 percent of reading.

The IRI 4010 is one of the latest low-cost high definition thermal imagers available from Roxspur, and has found immediate application in monitoring HVAC systems and domestic central heating and underfloor heating systems, insulation problems, mechanical faults in rotating equipment and bearings, and connection problems and faults in electrical circuits.

With the simple operation of the IRI 4010, and the easy to use display, the unit easily claims its reputation as one of the most popular high definition imagers available.
