NiCd cells combine the best of both
worlds

Saft has developed the new VNT range of NiCd cells to satisfy the needs and requirements of specific applications such as emergency lighting.

Saft has developed the new VNT range of NiCd cells to satisfy the needs and requirements of specific applications such as emergency lighting The VNT Cs is the first of this product range which is assembled using a new positive plastic nickel electrode (PNE), which is the result of more than 5 years of research and development by Saft

The objective is to combine the advantages of the two existing nickel electrode technologies: the simple and efficient process as that used in the manufacture of foam electrodes; and ensuring the use of a simple substrate as that used in the existing sintering process The PNE offers many improvements, such as: higher specific energy, higher capacity and better cost efficiency.

The first market to be targeted is the emergency lighting market, one that Saft supports in terms of operating conditions and standards.

The first VNT Cs cell offers a capacity of 1600mAh IEC and fulfils the emergency lighting requirements providing: 4 years life duration, good storage efficiency and the ability to sustain permanent overcharge The PNE technology offers Saft a strong position on the emergency lighting market, by reducing lead time, improving cost efficiency and extending capacity in various sizes: Cs, C etc.

With the launch of this new cell Saft also highlights its commitment to NiCd technology and to its customers' demands. Request a free brochure from Saft Rechargeable Battery Systems ...
