A new intrinsically safe isolating repeater from R Stahl Schaltgeraete provides EX-safe electrical isolation between two earthed circuits.

A new intrinsically safe isolating repeater from R Stahl Schaltgeraete provides EX-safe electrical isolation between two earthed circuits, for example between an intrinsically safe transducer and a standard 4-20mA I/O module The module is approved for use in ATEX zones 1 and 21

The IS Pac 9164 provides galvanic isolation to four-wire analogue sensors, and also supports Hart communications.

The repeater outputs an improved, intrinsically safe two-wire output signal to a 4-20mA module, such as R Stahl's Remote I/O System IS.1.

This compact module requires no power supply because the required power is tapped from the 4-20mA signal.

The IS Pac 9164 can be installed in ATEX Zone 1 and zone 21.

Two variants of the device are available, providing galvanic isolation between intrinsically safe areas, or from Ex e inputs resulting in an intrinsically safe output.

Earthed input circuits cannot be interconnected in hazardous areas because the signals could mutually influence each other in the event of a fault.

Electrical isolation with the milliamp-isolating repeater solves this problem and, at the same time, enhances the quality of the measured signals.

The Ex e input version of the device connects an Ex e measurement transducer to an intrinsically safe circuit, integrating Ex e devices into Stahl's intrinsically safe IS concept.

The milliamp-isolating repeater 9164 from R Stahl Schaltgerate comes with e II 2 G (1) GD EEx ia IIC T4 and e II 2 G (1) GD EEx e mb [ia] IIC T4 approval.

It is suitable for installation in Zones 1, 21 and for connection of intrinsically safe circuits in Zones 0 and 1, and in Zones 20 and 21 dust Ex applications.
