Enclosure thermal management software for free

A Sarel product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 18, 2001

If you need to calculate the thermal performance of electrical enclosures, Sarel is now offering its popular Clima thermal management software package as a free download from its web site

Sarel, a brand of Schneider Electric, is now offering its popular Clima thermal management software package as a free download from the organisation's website - www.sarel.co.uk - providing a versatile and instantly available solution for designers and engineers who need to calculate the thermal performance of electrical enclosures.

The Clima package, which is a 4.6Mbyte file, is found on the downloads page of the website, where a detailed manual explaining how to get the best from Clima is also provided as a 370Kbyte download in the popular Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format.

Clima software runs under Windows 95/98, and is compatible with virtually any modern PC.

In use, Clima guides users though a simple data entry process relating to the enclosure, its contents and the ambient conditions, and then produces immediate recommendations for effective thermal management.

Once entered, the data for each project can be stored for future reference, or for use as the basis for further calculations.

The software can also produce detailed printed reports containing both the original data, and the resulting recommendations.

For maximum convenience, Clima is pre-programmed with details of popular enclosures from the Sarel range, and with typical dissipation figures for commonly encountered electrical components such as relays, thermal overloads and contactors.

Users may, however, enter their own data for both enclosures and components, to be used as the basis for Clima's calculations.

In many cases, Clima will simply confirm that no additional heating or cooling equipment is needed to meet the requirements of the application.

When additional items are needed, however, Clima will recommend appropriate products from the Sarel range, and will also check that the enclosure is large enough to accommodate the additions.
