Electrical safety testing specialist Seaward Electronic is upgrading and expanding its range of PrimeTest instruments to suit all portable appliance testing (PAT) needs in the workplace.

All PrimeTest electrical safety testers are handheld, extremely lightweight and battery powered for maximum portability.

As well as verifying the safety of electrical equipment, all five instruments in the new range have the ability to test IEC mains leads and power sockets.

The entry-level PrimeTest 50 and PrimeTest 100 instruments are designed for the fast and effective safety checking of Class I and Class II electrical equipment by non-technical personnel.

A simple pushbutton operation enables tests to be carried out against pre-set pass/fail limits with a large LCD giving a clear pass/fail indication.

Basic checks are incorporated in the PrimeTest 50, with additional earth leakage tests available with the PrimeTest 100.

The PrimeTest 200 tester is a three-in-one test unit that combines comprehensive electrical safety testing, electrical circuit checks and digital multimeter functions.

The instrument is designed specifically for service engineers and those with a repair or maintenance responsibility, enabling a range of diagnostic tests to be undertaken alongside full electrical safety tests.

An optional temperature measurement module makes this tester suitable for vending and other service industry applications.

The new PrimeTest 220 is a mid-level portable appliance tester for the comprehensive in-service testing of electrical equipment by maintenance staff, safety engineers and electrical contractors.

The dedicated PAT tester can be mains powered for protective earth current leakage and touch current tests, enabling all necessary electrical safety tests to be carried out as well as some basic checks on the electrical installation to which the appliance is connected.

At the top of the range is the PrimeTest 300, a high-specification portable appliance tester.

Special operational features and an internal memory enable fast and effective testing by contractors, facilities managers and safety personnel.

Long-life battery power is combined with wireless connection of barcode scanners, label printers and other accessories to reduce downtime between tests by eliminating the cumbersome and constant plugging and unplugging of leads and cords.

A large internal memory facilitates the storage of electrical test data, as well as details of the condition of other safety equipment.

The PrimeTest 300 can also be linked directly to a 'Test n Tag' label printer for the immediate post-test production of safety labels.

The PrimeTest range is supported by a series of PATGuard software programs capable of storing safety test results and developing formal portable appliance test management databases.
