Handheld barcode scanner undamaged after drop test
The new shock resistant R Class Laser+ hand held bar code scanner from SB Electronic Systems has been designed for use in harsh industrial environments.
The new shock resistant R Class Laser+ hand held bar code scanner from SB Electronic Systems has been designed for use in harsh industrial environments.
During development, a drop test from 2 metres on to concrete left the scanner undamaged but the concrete chipped! Weighing in at only 200 grammes the new shock resistant R Class Laser+ was developed from the well proven, and successful, hand held Laser+ Miniature Laser Scanner.
The stainless steel body with PVC endcaps holds the unit in shock absorbent material.
This construction ensures long life even under harsh operating conditions where severe shocks, such as dropping from 1.5 metres on to concrete, might be expected.
Its small size, 195 x 32mm, light weight and ergonomic design makes the R Class Laser+ exceptionally easy to use and minimises operator fatigue (RSI).
The bright red scan line, easy to see and position over the barcode, combined with high scan speed and variable scan width and offset, provides reliable, first time reading in all ambient lighting conditions, even reading uneven or curved labels.
Discrimination of all popular barcodes, including Telepen, is automatic and successful reading is indicated by an audible 'bleep' adjustable for length, tone and volume to suit ambient noise conditions.
Interface to the computer system is by keyboard wedge which allows normal use of the keyboard.
Versions for Wyse terminals and RS232 connection will be available.
The rugged, shock resistant construction of the R Class Laser+ ensures long life whilst the ergonomic design and fast decoding provides maximum productivity and efficiency at the point of data capture in all types of industrial and logistics applications.
