The UTS connector, part of Souriau's Trim Trio range, is now available in a grommet equipped version.
It can be used for IP68 and IP69K standard connections using multi-wire cables, with an individual wire diameter of between 1.7 and 3mm.
It is intended for use in off-road applications such as construction site vehicles or agricultural machinery.
The UTS grommet connector uses standard UTS connector range components such as base, rings and contacts.
Souriau's developers added a grommet to it comprising three sealing barriers for each cavity, to ensure sealing with wires of 1.7 to 3mm in diameter.
Each of these cavities has a membrane that is pierced when the contact is inserted.
The grommet is held in place and compressed by a simple standard base.
As sealing is ensured by the grommet, there is no need for a sealed base, making the connector more compact.
The UTS grommet connector offers IP67 and IP69K sealing as standard.
It meets IP68 standards when combined with a cable connector, which will then ensure sealing around the cable and the wires.
The material used, a high-performance plastic, is resistant to impact and vibration and offers excellent temperature performance: an admissible temperature range of - 40C to 105C.
The UTS connector is salt-mist resistant (for 500 hours) and UV resistant, increasing its reliability when used outdoors.
Its flammability performance is to UL 94-V0 standards, meaning that the product will not catch fire.
The UTS grommet connector is equipped with the Trim Trio locking mechanism: a one-third of a turn bayonet locking mechanism with a click-lock motion.
The connector is currently available in four, seven, eight and 12 contact versions.
