SMAC Europe has launched the LA 20 series of Linear, Linear and Rotary and Linear Slide actuators, which is the latest addition to its range of moving coil actuators.
The latest in the long line of SMAC's popular moving coil series is the most technologically advanced yet, combining a very compact package, with impressive performance.
The LAL 20 has just a 20mm profile, but can still deliver a peak force of 8N and a max continuous force of 4.5N with stroke lengths between 10 and 25mm, and is supplied as standard with a 5-micron linear encoder.
A 1-micron encoder is also available as an option.
The Linear/Rotary version, the LAR 20, has a direct drive rotary motor with an encoder resolution of 0.025 degrees.
In common with the rest of the SMAC range, both the LAC 1 or LAC 25 controllers can be used to configure the LA 20 series.
This means that the actuator is fully programmable using 3 different modes controlling, position, velocity, and force, and therefore the performance characteristics are tightly monitored.
It also incorporates such features as a precision machined body with dowelled mounting surfaces and through rod vacuum.
It is expected to see extensive use in SMAC's core industries, namely the semiconductor, automotive and pharmaceutical sectors.
