Scientific Generics recognised for innovation and dynamism in joint venture with the Business Wings Award at the inaugural UK Cathay Pacific Awards in London on 2nd March 2006.
Scientific Generics has been recognised for its innovation and dynamism for its first-of-a-kind joint venture, Sgai Tech, and was presented with the Business Wings Award by Chief Executive Philip Chen at the inaugural UK Cathay Pacific Awards in London on 2nd March 2006.
Despite being a relatively new venture, the judging panel agreed that Sgai Tech demonstrated the spirit of innovation and creativity between British and Chinese based companies that the Business Wings Award was designed to recognise.
The Business Wings Award was presented to Simon Davey, Chief Executive of Scientific Generics and Chairman of Sgai Tech.
Sgai Tech was established to forge partnerships between the UK, Hong Kong and China to create, develop and manufacture innovative, high-quality products in an efficient and rapid manner.
The concept for Sgai came when Cambridge based Scientific Generics was asked to develop an enhanced version of the Scalextric slot car racing system on behalf of Hornby.
As a result of the partnership, Scalextric Sport Digital was unveiled at the 2004 London Toy Fair and Sgai Tech was launched in 2005.
Chitty Cheung, General Manager Europe, Cathay Pacific Airways, London, said: "The company displays strong potential for future success via its innovative business model and is therefore a worthy winner of the 2005 Business Wings Award".
Davey said: "Gaining this honour is undoubtedly the result of the commitment and expertise of Sgai Tech's staff and management, led by Tim Moore, KM Chow and Sean Gallagher as well as the tremendous support we have had from our business partner in Hong Kong and China - Automatic Manufacturing".
"I would like to thank personally John and Peter Mok, who head AML, for their guidance and wisdom".
