An alternative to manufacturers server cabinets

A Schroff UK product story

Schroff's tried-and-tested Proline and Comrack ranges are now both available as all-purpose server models.

Special kits enable users to install all commercially available server types such as Compaq, Dell, IBM, Sun or Siemens Nixdorf quickly and easily.

This provides an inexpensive and flexible alternative to server manufacturers' standard cabinets for data systems - and without compromising reliability or quality.

L-sections which provide a continuous 19" mounting grid extending over the entire cabinet height (42U) or subdivision heights (25, 29, 38U) are used as conversion kits.

Servers supplied with telescopic rails and depth supports can be mounted directly on these sections.

The differently shaped sections provide the dimensions required for various servers, e.g 740mm or 699mm between front and back 19" planes and corresponding depth and width dimensions.

For tower servers, other particularly heavy equipment or 19"-incompatible UPS (uninterruptible power supplies), Schroff also offers 19" heavy-duty drawer units with a load rating of 120kg at full extension.

A double drawer unit for Proline provides additional individual extension options, for example, for tower servers.

Both Proline and comrack offer an optimised ventilation concept with perforated top cover and doors.

The Schroff range includes both steel and glass front doors as standard.

The venting surface area of the steel or glass door of a 600mm wide Proline server cabinet is 2,538cm2 or 486cm2, that of a similar comrack variant 2,320cm2 or 765cm2.

Both types of cabinet, 2m high and 900mm deep, are available in 600mm and 800mm widths.

The 800mm variant also enables users to mix cabinets containing active and passive components as required.

Within the Schroff range, Proline generally constitutes the stable, multifunctional and inexpensive cabinet solution for 19", metric or ETSI-compliant configurations, whereas comrack represents the innovative cabinet concept providing all-round accessibility to the 19" level even with side-by-side mounting, thus allowing extremely rapid and inexpensive wiring, and much more besides.
