SICK to exhibit at manufacturing technology event

A SICK (UK) product story

SICK will use the upcoming Manufacturing Technology Scotland event on 11-12 November, which is to be held at the SECC in Glasgow, to further publicise its Industrial Instrumentation Division.

The company provides a range of photoelectric products, from light guards for machine tools to visual inspection systems for process plants.

SICK hopes the new division will help it to further expand into new markets.

At the event, the company will also introduce a vision sensor that allows greater onsite flexibility to suit different applications.

Exchangeable lenses vary the field of view between 150mm and 350mm and the new sensor features add-on input/output (I/O) functionality to meet control and data monitoring requirements.

The enhanced I/O capability enables the selection of up to 16 reference objects for comparison with the object being inspected and delivers up to 19 inspection results at once.

Individual items do not require identical positioning for inspection as the software evaluates edges, contours, contrasts, greyscale values or pixels relative to a defined location feature on the reference image.

The new sensors join SICK's existing product range targeted at liquid and wet products, including level and pressure sensors that are hygiene certified for food-and-beverage applications.

A working temperature range of -40C to +150C means the units can withstand clean and sterilise-in-place procedures.
