Boots The Chemist uses ScreenScan microfilm accessibility for archived financial data.

Boots The Chemist (BTC), generating a 97/98 turnover of £4,975.6m, has installed ScreenScan in the microfilm department of its Nottingham HQ, as an integral part of the numerous operating systems.

Ivan Rockley, department supervisor stated: "Within Boots, we use a number of systems and file formats, necessary for the swift distribution of information.

ScreenScan works with our microfilm archives, selecting a particular document or batch of documents on roll or fiche which are then held, digitally, for immediate transfer to the enquirer via the network, in PDF format." ScreenScan is a simple scanning attachment for microfilm readers and reader printers that directly selects and scans on-screen images at 400dpi (monochrome).

The proprietary image enhancement processor, with 256 levels of grey, black border elimination and deskew abilities, produces superior image quality output for all microforms.

The on demand facility allows users to select a particular frame, scan and either fax, email or print it, within seconds.

Prices start from £5000.
