The SiCOMS single compartment oil mist detection system is a highly sophisticated and intelligent monitoring and safety system for the prevention of oil mist explosions.

The SiCOMS single compartment oil mist detection system is a highly sophisticated and intelligent monitoring and safety system for the prevention of oil mist explosions SiCOMS is based on compartment specific oil mist monitoring, and lubrication oil temperature measurements

The SiCOMS single compartment oil mist detector consists of a finger type dual optical and system redundancy sensor protected against splash oil by a highly sophisticated multiple chamber splash oil protection system (SG-SOPS) preventing the sensor area from pollution, but allowing the oil mist to enter the sensor light beam within milliseconds.

Consequently, the sensor and alarm system reaction time is in the range of less than 1s.

The entire SiCOMS is free from any movable mechanical parts, and so does not undergo any wear and tear.

The SiCOMS sensors are interconnected with a digital transmission line, allowing the exchange or replacement of sensors at full engine operation and without affecting the safety monitoring of the entire SiCOMS system.

The intelligent SiCOMS software include features such as identification of compartment, comparison of oil mist formation between different compartments, pollution of the sensor area or failure and each single engine compartment is protected by one sensor system, fitting into existing drillings in the crankcase in order to make installation extremely simple.

Because of its unique design, no suction or piping arrangement is required.
