The SY024 frequency multiplier/divider can be used in numerous applications to scale a frequency signal to a usable output.

The SY024 frequency multiplier/divider can be used in numerous applications to scale a frequency signal to a usable output.

The SY024 is a low cost DC powered signal convertor, offering improved device versatility with 4-20mA ability.

The SY024 can be linked to most flow meters or other frequency generating devices (any device with a pulse rate), to multiply or divide the frequency by a preset value.

The unit can be set to multiply any value from 0.001 to 9.999; it can also be set to divide the input frequency between 1 and 9999 with an additional range from 100 to 999,900 selected by a 1/100 jumper.

SY024s have previously been used for furniture testing by FIRA (Furniture Industry Research Authority) to test the durability of seats.

The unit used in this case had the programmable ramp generator option to control hydraulic valves which actuated rams that applied a variety of loads.

The unit was linked to loadcells to achieve feedback.

SY024 units are normally used for flowmeters, but it can be used in any application where pulse processing is required.

The unit is very simple to set up.

The input device's signal cable is connected via simple screw down terminals, with the output signal using identical connections.

The preset value of the scaling factor is set by four rotary switches.

Output from the unit can include a reed switch, TTL pulse, coil or an open collector.

Further to the frequency multiplier/divider unit, the SY024 is also available as a convertor from frequency input to a 4-20mA output, or as a programmable ramp generator, with a 4-20mA output.

The SY024 is powered by 7-30V DC or an optional AC mains power supply and is housed in a sealed ABS case with moulded glands.

A faster version is optionally available allowing 0.1ms pulse intervals rather than 1ms intervals.
