Process monitor collects environmental data

A Synectic Design product story

Synectic Design has released a special version of its very successful SY019 multi I/O unit: the SY019EPM-I/O is an environmental process monitoring multi I/O unit.

Unlike the standard SY019, this unit is specifically built for environmental monitoring for a variety of processes.

It will print out reports acceptable for the environment agency too, at Synectic Designs usual low costs.

The SY019EPM-I/O can receive inputs from a variety of standard transducers for monitoring exhaust outputs.

It can monitor temperature, carbon monoxide, oxygen and particulates.

The SY019EPM-I/O is a stand-alone unit that will perform the monitoring and log the received data in its 128Kbyte memory.

It is initially set up with a HyperTerminal connection on a computer via an RS232 or USB link.

The unit can be connected to any serial or parallel printer and will print out a standard report at the end of the day.

If output limits have been exceeded throughout the day the data can be downloaded onto a laptop, where is can be analysed to highlight the possible cause of the problem.

During normal operation the unit can be set up to raise an alarm if an output limit is exceeded through one of its eight relay outputs.

The majority of the applications where this product has been used have been on the exhaust of a furnace - obviously extremely useful as companies are increasingly required to monitor and control their furnace emissions, this product provides this function at Synectic Design's usual low costs.

It has been used in a wide range of applications from abattoirs to glue factories.

A special version of this unit has been developed to operate in a hospital to monitor the gases used to anaesthetise patients - specifically a monitoring unit for cost purposes.

This wide variety of applications shows that the SY019EPM-I/O can be used for virtually any monitoring task.

Standard input transducers are accepted with 4-20mA signals, optionally the unit can be adapted to read voltage if required.

Simple switch inputs are used to control the start/stop of logging, printing and repeat printing.
