Load cells suited for limited-space applications

A Stellar Technology product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 19, 2009

Stellar Technology has introduced the VLC856 sub-miniature series of compression load cells.

The load cells have diameters from 0.38in and heights of 0.13in, and deliver 0.50 per cent accuracy for ranges from 10-1,000lbf.

A micro-welded stainless-steel construction provides for a more repeatable, reliable, and rugged product.

Standard output for the model VLC856 is 2mV/V and electrical termination consists of a four-conductor Teflon cable with braided stainless-steel shielding and an integral temperature and zero balance board.

The VLC856 is temperature compensated from 70F to 170F, and the temperature effect on zero and span is minimal at 0.01 per cent/F, ensuring reliable performance.

The load cells have a standard operating temperature range of -40F to 250F, with an optional operating range from -65F to 400F offered.

These small, rugged units feature a static overload capacity of 150 per cent (FSO) and are suited for a variety of demanding limited-space applications including medical robotics, components testing, semiconductor polishing (CMP), tactical feedback systems, infusion pumps, and orthopaedic stimulation.
