Stober has extended its Posidrive FDS 4000 frequency inverter family to include a decentralised equipment series in the 2.2 to 15kW power range.

These inverters have enclosure IP65 and can be mounted immediately adjacent to the drive - for example on the machine frame.

They have the following advantages for the user over traditional integral motor inverters: good accessibility because there is no linkage to the motor; integral power contactor or master switch as required; integral operator station as standard; complex decentralised automation tasks such as positioning are possible; wide power range; and thermal decoupling from motor.

Of course, Stober also supplies the market with the popular MGS gear motor range with integral frequency inverter.

Modifications like the power contactor and direct operator controllability offer the user an autonomous solution of compact design, with particular emphasis on a high degree of protection without external fans.

This makes the equipment extremely suitable for machinery used in wet operations.

To accompany this decentralised drive concept, Stober has also developed a new option board with the ASi interface and an I/O expansion for the Posidrive frequency inverter series.

Its seamless integration in the inverter software gives the user unparalleled flexibility of drive control via the ASi bus.

In addition to selection of up to eight speed setpoints, the positioning control integrated as standard can also be very conveniently driven via ASi.

With ASi it has become far simpler to handle cost-critical applications with two drives on one inverter.

An example of this is installations with two axes working together such as material handling and lifting.
