Guide to solid pins

A Spirol Industries product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 7, 2006

Spirol Industries has published a guide to solid pins.

Spirol Industries has published a guide to solid pins.

It provides comprehensive design and application information for the company's complete range of standard solid pins and predesigned special helical grooved pins.

Details of customised pin solutions are also provided whereby the company's engineering design team designs new and unique products for specific customer applications.

The majority of Spirol's solid pin products are "press fit fasteners" whereby the fasteners retain themselves in the assembly by the friction between the pins and host.

"Retention mechanics", as it is known, is one of the most important aspects of specifying the correct pin for an application and Spirol's ranges of knurled and helical grooved pins meet most requirements.

Each range can be specified in various materials and finishes through to AISI 6150, the highest strength material available.

Drive studs and Twist-Lok pins are also featured in the new guide together with latch pins for plastic for larger plastic hinge applications.
