Coiled spring pins solve automotive
problems

Design advice from Spirol caused an automotive company to replace the long semi-tubular rivet in its glove compartment handle with two coiled pins.

Instead of using a semi-tubular rivet as a hinge pin in an automotive glove compartment handle application, a major supplier to the automotive industry is now using coiled spring pins from Spirol Industries These were specified following major problems which were being experienced during the crimping operation of the rivet

A fastening solution was needed that would meet the application requirements and eliminate the crimping problems.

Design advice from Spirol resulted in the replacement of the long semi-tubular rivet with two coiled pins.

Spirol's standard duty coiled pin was chosen for this application as it provided a similar "feel" as the rivet when the hinge was actuated.

The coiled pin is self-retaining, actually eliminates the need for crimping to ensure that the pin remains in the hole. Request a free brochure from Spirol Industries ...
